Evening Prayer

I seek you Lord, trusting it is your face I will find. I desire for you to teach me Lord. Lead me to the straight path, do not let false witnesses rise against me. I am confident in you Lord. I trust that I will see goodness in the land of the living and I will wait on you Lord. give me rest this evening and renew my strength by your spirit. Amen.

Exercising Faith: Day 5

Day 5 Example: Zaccheaus Zaccheaus' story is short. There's a chldrens song about Zaccheaus an I'm sure we could probably sing it in about 30 seconds. Evenn though his story is short his faith was strong. He wanted to see the Lord, but everyone was pushing him back. I'm sure to Zaccheaus a short guy they all looked like giants to him. To make matters worse they all hated him because of his title. They didn't know him like Jesus did. Jesus saw his heart that genuinely desired  to know him. Reflection: Zaccheaus was judged and falsely accused just like we are. Everyday we face people who dislike us, dislike our clothes, the way we walk or talk, even the way we style our hair. They accuse us of many things they don't understand us. They don't know us. We must choose to be strong in faith and rise above the giants. Zaccheaus rised above, he climbed a tree so he could keep his focus on Jesus. Actions: First, I want us to examine ourselves. Look inwardly at our h...

Morning Psalm

Read Psalm 27 I will wait on you Lord because you are my light and my salvation. I do not have to be afraid. I praise you for your safe dwelling place. I praise you because when I call you are merciful to hear and answer me.

Evening Prayer

Lord, I have sought after you. I've asked for forgiveness for things I don't realize are sins. Although I have to work and shop and attend daily activities with disbelievers I ask that you keep my mind and values separate so not let their lifestyle interfere with my relationship with you Lord. Deliver me and place me on stable ground so I may continue to praise you. Give me rest this evening and renew my strength by your spirit. Amen

Exercisng Faith: Day 4

Day 4 Example: Esther's Life  Esther faced down fear she trusted in God, understanding there was a bigger problem than she could handle on her own. She faced many giants from King Ashasuerus to his servant Haman. Who both induced fear into her life. Reflection:  We face many fears everyday. We, like Esther, need to take those fears to God in prayer. Then respond in obedience to his directions. Actions: Seek the Lord. Study the scriptures. Follow Jesus’ example, he knew the Lord's plan and prayed about it. The Lord gave him peace. He then fulfilled that which was required of him. Esther needed peace before she called the king to meet her. She fasted and prayed. She didn't do it alone. She was interceding for all jews.. We are not interceding for a nation of people, we are asking for peace: a gift from the holy spirit. Ask a friend in faith to help you pray, to stay encouraged. Also getting to know the trinity is a great way to start building up your faith.  (We will start...

Morning Psalm

Read Psalm 26 Lord, I praise you for all your wondrous deeds. You have been good to me. I love you Lord and I love your glory. Shine on me, in me, and through me so others will be blessed by the light of your glory.

Evening Prayer

Lord, I ask you to guard me and protect me. Do not let me feel ashamed of seeking you while it looks like those who do not know you prosper. I desire to take refuge in you Lord. I ask you to deliver me from all my troubles. Give me rest this evening and renew my strength by your spirit. Amen

Exercising Faith: Day 3

Day 3 Example: Daniel's Life Daniel faced giant's too like being in the lions den. He trusted in God escpecially during the waiting. He had to wait in the lion's den. He believed in God to deliver him and answer him even though he couldn't see physically how God was going to do that. Waiting is a giant that causes axniety. Unless we stay grounded in faith. Daniel prayed and fasted 21 days while he waited on an answer from the Lord. If he wasn't seeking the Lord during this time he would have been discouraged. Seeking the Lord is what kept Daniel during the rough patches of life. Reflection: We all have trouble waiting. Its hard to remain faithful andd persistent when we can't see the outcome. That's where faith comes in. Faith is our evidence that the outcome will be victory in Christ our deliverer. Actions:  Like Daniel we should be persistent. He believed in God and prayed to God desipte what anyone else thought. His trust in God caused nonbelivers to cas...

Morning Psalm

Read Psalm 25 I praise you Lord for having new mercies everyday. I praise you for giving me second chances and for showing me your ways. I trust you and hope in you. I stand firm knowing if I ask for forgiveness I will receive it because you do not hold onto my wrongs, but you forget them because of your love for me.   you have been gracious to me and I praise you for that. Amen.

Evening Prayer

Lord, I ask you to come into my life everyday and every night so I may get to know you better. Give me rest this evening and renew my strength by your spirit. Amen.

Exercisng Faith: Day 2

Day 2 Example: Hannah's Life Unlike David, Hannah didn't face large giants. Her troubles were not loud, but the pain was just as deep. Hannah felt as if she had been cut off from the future. She was heavily exhausted and surrounded by emotional walls. She let grief consume her so much that she was blinded. She couldn't see the blessings she had been given. Even though she couldn't see her future or the blessings in front of her she continuously cried out to God. She vowed to give her blessing right back to him if he would just answer her. That vow was straight from her heart. (Her story is found in 1 Samuel 1&2) Reflection: We may not be barren and begging the Lord to give us children, but we are feeling empty and hopeless just like Hannah. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that we have hope and a future in God. No matter what we feel like we can rest in that truth. Actions: Do not let your grief consume you. Grief is defined as deep and intense sadness or mental suffering...

Hymns (4) memories

Do you remember any of these?  Just a few good memories here. Enjoy ! Ephesians 5:19

Exercising Faith: Day 1

Day 1 Example: David’s life David faced many giants. Not just the philistine soldier. His life was in danger and he spent many years in hiding. He lived in caves trusting in God to take care of the giants. When he finally came out of hiding he found his home burned to the ground. There were more giants to face but David stepped back and trusted God to take vengeance when it was time.(To read about these events you can start in 1st Samuel 17 when David fights his first giant.) Reflection: I'm not fighting tall men or women, but there are spiritual giants or spiritual attacks that I must face daily. There are bullies all throughout this world and I must choose to stand firm and let the Lord handle it.  Actions: First choose not to be a giant, don't be a fallen one. Stand firm, setting your feet upon the foundation of the gospel of peace.  Yes I'm referring to the armour of the Lord. Physically pretend to dress yourself each morning in the full armour of God found i...

Morning Psalm

Read Psalm 23 I praise the Lord my shepherd for I lack NOthing. He makes me lie down in pleasant places to give me rest. He refreshes my soul and guides me along the right path for his glory. Even though I walk through the darkness I am not afraid for my God is with me his rod and staff comforts me. He prepares a meal for me in front of my enemies. He anoints me with oil. My cup is never empty. Goodness and love follows me for eternity and I dwell safely in the house of my Lord forever. Amen.

Evening Prayer

Lord help me to spread your love. You are my strength and joy. Help me to tell others about you. People aren't always willing to accept you so I ask you to rescue me from the spiritual swords, dogs, lions, and oxen so I can declare your name is powerful. You deserve the praise no matter what. Help me Lord. Give me rest this evening and renew my strength by your spirit. Amen.

Exercising Faith: Coming Up

The last full week in August Exercising Faith Daily  Let's talk a little more about our faith. How to keep our faith in the rough patches of life. We've been reading through Psalms, so we have a pretty good idea of what it looks like to remain faithful. It's easy to say I will trust you always or give you praise no matter what, however living in that trust or praise isn't always easy.  So this week we will learn practical ways to keep our faith.  Each post this week will have three sections: Example: A reminder of a faithful believer in the Bible. Reflection: How Or what relates to you and me. Action: Steps we can take action on to stay faithful.
